My favorite time in my childhood would be
when I was six our new house was ready
We had eight in our family with mom and dad
old house was small, leaving friends was sad
But a big adventure in the country had begun
a stream next to the yard was so much fun
With craw fish and pollywog's caught in a jar
boats made of Popsicle sticks floated afar
The huge hill of dirt piled high was so much fun
play king of the mountain, up and down we run
With houses being built up and down the street
meeting so many new friends was such a treat
Another thing I remember that was fun as a kid
was an old mayonnaise jar with holes in the lid
We caught grasshoppers then let them go
also fireflies in the summer to watch them glow
My sister and I could finally share our own room
dad went to the woods to find tiger lilies in bloom
Our house was not huge but it was nice to me
moving day was such a wonderful memory
Soon a baby was born that made number nine
we might be a little crowded but that was fine
I would be happy here until my wedding day
moving here was the happiest day I would say

Very very good
Most unpretentious and simple, written so simply yet elegantly, it was sheer joy to read it. When reading I had a feeling that the author himself was talking to me. -
WONDERFUL CONTEST
Thank you for the wonderful comment. It was a joy to go back so many years when childhood was still innocent and carefree unlike the pressures of today I see my grandchildren going through. This was a wonderful contest. Take care, Sandy

This is a very beautiful entry... You really must have had fun when you found out about my contest and submitted this entry of yours. I really liked the detailing and the depth you put into this and how you describe what happened and basically everything like that. This is such a fine edition and a very beautiful poem. You really made a judge smile and also laugh that you were so fine with staying in the house that was a bit crowded LOL. Very nice job with this poem and thanks for entering and submitting this poem. Good Luck!
