A young maidens spirit seen in the mist
behind ivy covered walls hidden within
centuries before she had been banished
the life she dreamed had never been
As angels descended from heavenly skies
shadows appeared in the dark of night
hopelessness ensued her waking moments
final destination, the endless river her plight
A hush came over the courtyard so still
the young prince had been sent far away
as she reaches the murky river in tears
she falls to her knees and begins to pray
In her hand a nosegay from happier times
so withered still wrapped in ribbon of gold
melting her heart with a night of passion
her love was so handsome and so bold
Promises broken to this beautiful maiden
opening her heart love was felt deep within
she believed love had finally found her
now a heart lay broken as reality sets in
In the midnight darkness the moon is still
laughter heard in a sweet angelic voice
behind the ivy covered walls she dances
death's arrival allows her now to rejoice

Now this was an interesting concept. She couldn't find love here but she finds it in the afterlife! I guess there is always hope for love. Great stuff.

This is a beautiful narrative. It tells the story in incredibly compelling language, with a great flow that hooked me from the beginning and didn't let me go. You've also managed to capture such a beautiful mood. The time and place come through so strongly, that I can see it in my minds eye. Excellent write!!

excellent
So full of emotions and they are deeply felt, my heart is touched, to be slapped back by the last lines:
"behind the ivy covered walls she dances
death's arrival allows her now to rejoice"
You have embaced the soul of my imagination!.....Ennovy
