Toast to the Sea

I toast to the sea
May fair weather she bring
For tomorrow we sail
Under daylights spell

I toast to the skies
May they stay clear and let it last
So we see the stars and find our mark
To stay on course and not get lost

I toast to the wind
May she blow a fair breeze
So the sail takes flight and vessel it move
To start our journey and keep us through

I toast to you the Lord above
To see us through and keep us well
For we need your guidance and caring hand
Now until our journeys end

Author notes

    Awesome

This is an awesome poem. The flow is great and love the use of words in this piece. It's like a prayer to mother nature and God to keep you safe on this journey. Impressive stuff.

I meant it as a series of toasts. After toasting the sea, drink. Then the skies, drink. And so on. Thanks for your comment though. This was my first time at writing a toast.

I like this litle piece. It reads like one of those simple Gaelic prayers. One point, the verb "toast" is transitive; one says "I toast the skies" or "I drink a toast to the skies". Thanks for sharing this.
