Today’s fears
The evil and horrors we face in the world, in today’s society
Are unleashed by religious fanatics who have no piety
Those responsible for these atrocious acts, have bitter and twisted minds
‘All’ faiths need a new perspective and ethos, of quite a different kind
Millennia old tomes belong in the past, whenever they were written
Civilisation was relatively young and ignorant, so guidance was given
Heaven and religion both can wait; it’s all humanity at stake
These fanatics from around the world are on the brink of their greatest mistake
There are reasons to change this world we live in, it cannot simply go on
They would have us all believe, that its East v West but, they’re so wrong
I believe, part of their cause, is to distract their own faithful from truth
The advance of science and technology is disproving their faith at the roots
In so undermining their base of power, they are driven to take drastic action
They’re leading the weak away from mainstream, to form a radical faction
It’s their loss of power, they most fear, they’re just a splinter group of fanatics
Misguided by a perverse belief, the cost in lives is high and too drastic
But it’s such a futile cause, science and discovery is in a part of us all
Religion now has to retire, because truth will rise like the dawn call
Capitalism is what they’re against, hah, their excuses now grow old
‘The love of money is the root of all evil’ or so we’ve always been told
Its power they crave in the guise of religion, please don’t be lead astray
We can’t possibly see what they hope to achieve, probably nor do they!
Religion is a cover for the heinous crimes, these mere men commit
Christianity against Muslim is a smoke screen; it’s just their rhetoric
On our little blue planet, natural disasters occur, time and time again
Like earthquake and tsunami, drought and famine, flood and hurricane
Mother Nature takes her own toll, reigning down death and devastation
Those who believe may call it god’s will and double their devotion
But it’s simply the evolution of our planet, a collision of nature and physics
So our fragile little earth and those upon it, can well do without histrionics
These sad brainwashed individuals are incited, to commit these inhuman acts
By bigotry, paranoia and perverse hatred, not a deed of the faithful, that’s fact
They believe their actions sanctified and go to holy deaths, to martyrdom they say
So ‘their’ blood drips from the hands, of the ‘men of god’ who send them on their way
Men of god, holy men, clerics, imams, the faithful and the lay
If god does exist, then woes betide them…come judgement day!
There are governments around the world, that ‘seem’ to be constructive
Sadly it’s usually camouflage, a political manoeuvre, is the true objective
It’s all economy this and human rights that, not to mention their careers
So the world will just keep wasting away assisted by those who govern, our peers
No one man, one party, one nation can stem the flow to mans downfall
The only thing powerful enough is, global unification one and all
So if god exists, as a lot believe, regardless of which religion or faith
He must be about to call time out, and consider his ‘human project’ a waste
He allegedly gave us a chance with Adam, and allegedly another much later
But if we continue, down this road, the odds of our survival grow slimmer
If you believe in god, it’ll make no difference; the faiths of this world are corrupted
Billions of years for man to evolve…back…to rabid animals, destructive

Thanks for that Rob/Pinhead.....LOL....a man after my own heart I see...Unfortunately I see it as being way to far down the line for we mere muppets to correct....the indoctrination of the main religions is too ingrained...and only when the good people of our little blue planet band together....(Huh fat chance eh?)....will we get somewhere near where we are supposed to be....

Ahhh, a comrade on another soapbox, speaking truth to power. This rambling rant of a wake up call brings the mind of the reader from the heavens tho the earth, and the impact of our species on the planet, which is the only god that I can see, feel, taste, or acknowledge. Most religions are [I feel] cases of man creating gods as opposed to the converse. But I have studied many and found beauty in most.I often quote "religious"
figures as wise people.[Black Elk, Martin Luther King, Lao Tzu, etc, etc.] Most religions are infused with doctrine based on all the best foundations of love, charity, etc. They have been corrupted by dark men. We can, however, hope that they will heal themselves from within. They have the tools.
I truly hope that Christian may heal Christian, Muslims, heal Muslims, etc. Without sheep to follow dark gods in false prophet's ears our species could yet heal.
We all love our children; and that's a good place to start.
An excuse to stop killing eace other long enough to save our grand blue stone. Can you tell you made me think? Thank you!

Thank you Suz.....though I may believe it and indeed you....there are far too many people around the world that are so indoctrinated into their religions they are simply unable to see it......There I'll get back of my soap box again....LOL....but you may appreciate why I am a cynic...LOL

Cynic you have created a precise example of how I have been thinking of the world and our United States government. I have very little knowledge in politics but eyes that see well! This really should be posted somewhere on political boards or somewhere that others can read this because it is to well put together with (facts) that our president himself should see. Thank you for writing this....please keep posting this in different places!
