Jeu De Guillotine

Missing image

Bloodthirsty onlookers,
he backed away, the bearded executioner
adjourned for the day
determined not to be cheated
the crowd waited
for the felon to be taught a lesson
"tue-tue-tue..."

It was nearly sunset
he staggered and fell back
as a beautiful blonde mass murderer
arrived full of life
and taunted the crowd
with her feminine wiles,
“You’d rather see me stripped and whipped!”
which brought lewd objections from the onlookers

“Death!” Said the Revolutionary Tribunal
her hair fell over her neck
causing the blade not to sever completely
legs fell in an indecent position
as she convulsed violently
it took three attempts

stones flew
the crowd was angry with the executioner
and demanded he be stoned to death

The last in France
reserved for one who went on a killing spree
four men and a woman
before being captured in a shootout with police
4am the execution was scheduled, 1939
the bars and cafes filled with aficionados
to witness the last execution

somewhere in their vigil through the night
they became a mob
when things began to go wrong
the guillotine was on ground level
they did not want to create a spectacle
with a scaffold
the crowd jostled in close to see
the iron collar was misaligned
in the end the assistant had to hold the head in place
by forcefully pulling on it
and upon severance
he flew backwards with the head
and blood spattered everywhere and on everyone

They said they should go back
to boiling in oil…

like the good old days...

Hi and how the crowd loved these days and still does by what I hear, funny when you think about it, a part of us that was with us when we were in the caves has lived on, human nature is still in those caves in so many things, good write, Di

jeu de guillotine indeed , for it was a game that attracted as if in a carnival, and voyeurism at its best (chants of tue-tue-tue=kill-kill-kill)could be heard throughout this macabre write. I can't say that it is my type of subject , but I have to give you credit for a write well executed

Oh what Grand Guignol! What gallows humour - particularly with the final cartoon! What tales executioners can tell about botched jobs! This piece held a grizzly fascination, and indeed held my attention from beginning to end. I can hear Berlioz playing in the background. Well done and thank you.
