I, The Lonely Moon

Once again the sun steals you from me.
I, the moon, am left to brood among the darkest sky
And you, my only star, become invisible to my eyes.
You’ve known the sun longer than you’ve known I
And I feel small when you forget me.
Two full days and three long nights I’m not a thought in your mind.
The sun embraces you, invoking joy in your heart
Whilst I cry alone.
