The Stranger Among Us

Missing image
You say you want to know me and find out a little more,
I'm gonna let you in on a secret, you met me a million times before.

To look at me, there are some things you'd never really know,
to see me smile and hear me laugh, but some things never show...

You say you know my story and know it very well,
but know one knows anything about what I called hell...

You say you want to listen and how much you really care,
but I don't remember anyone fighting just to be there...

A story of a little girl who now runs from her past,
a little girl that had no friends and grew up way to fast...

It started way back when, and I was only eight,
they said my mom was dying and this was her only fate...

The doctors held my hand and told me to say good-bye,
but I didn't believe what they said and thought it was a lie....

Who was wrong or who was right, today I really know,
that I became my moms strength and wouldn't let her go...

They said she wouldn't be normal again, this I already knew,
lupus has a thousand faces, and can keep its hold on you...

Slipping more and more, empty pill bottles all around,
nightmares of a lit cigarette left upon the ground..

Fate reared its ugly head once more and now my story began,
an innocent little girls dreams taken by the touch of a man.

I was only ten, and there wasn't much that I could do,
this could happen to anyone, it could even happen to you!

The courts denied my claims and evidence was the key,
but even the courts can't replace what that man stole from me!

Fate came knocking on my door and left me its little sign,
my body became every ones and was no longer just mine.

His hand covered my mouth and screams know one could hear,
I was only twelve and he was a friend that I once held dear...

With help from my boyfriend who held down my wrists,
screaming at me to shut up while waving around his fists.

Taking turns on my body as I watched them destroy,
everything I had left became another mans toy!

bruises and cuts that can heal with time,
but rape don't go away, that's why its a crime!

Now I'm twenty-six and have children of my own
children I never see but talk to on the phone.

You asked for my story and now you know,
what little girls sometimes never let show!

They say it's easier to ignore the truth and believe all the lies,
but if you listen long enough you'll hear that little girls cries!

You said you wanted to know more about me and now you really do,
and now you know why I don't believe the words "I love you!"

little girls do grow up and this face you'll never see,
because fate can take allot away, but it'll never take away me!

  • Wow, so much pain and intensity. I could never imagine going through something like that. I'm sorry you had to.
Thank you for your entry piece and goodluck in the contest.

  • THis is pretty good. There's one or two grammar errors, just thought I'd point out... "their are some things you'd never really know" Their is supposed to be There. Line 11, "way back when, and I" you can take out "and I" and it will flow better. Other than that, it's perfect. You did an amazing job writing this. I'm sorry that happened to you. Keep up your wonderful work! Thanks for entering my contest. I wish you the best of luck.
