As You Slept

As You Slept

I watched you as you slept tonight,
watched you as I shimmied out of work clothes
and tucked in warm beside you.

I stole three kisses from the freckles on your shoulder
and wondered, if asleep,
the scent of midnight apple-jack and M&Ms passed by.

I thought we might meet later in our dreams, to hold hands
as we paint a sure and bright romantic world
where I watch you as you sleep.

This is a really warm poem and gives such an image of home and peace. I like how you took normal things and made them poetic. Love is always a hard thing to effectively portray, and I think you've done it admirably.

    Beautiful

This is adorable, the first two stanza give such a strong feel of stepping into a place where you so belong. The wishful thoughts enhance that feeling as you cement your emotions with the hope of being with your loved one even in your dreams.

Such simple, heartfelt emotions and thoughts, thank you so much for allowing us into your world
