Breathless

As the soft, cool breeze blow swirls of salt air,
The sun glistened sand is spread ev'rywhere.
Seagulls and sandpipers soaring around
Sometimes they just hover above the ground.
As waves gently lap on the glossy beach,
I recognize peace; it's within my reach.

The gulls and pipers each with it's own sound
Softly are singing; their love songs abound.
Slowly appearing are all shades of gold,
Orange, red, yellow and purple so bold.
As the sun goes down, a picture it paints,
A glorious image, not at all quaint.

Vivid and bright, the colors intertwine
Lighting up the sky, oh, this is divine!
As day fades away the colors all prance
Swaying in sync; a tantalizing dance.
A scene like none else, nor will ever be,
A majestic sight breathtaking to see.
Breathless I watched in absolute delight
The sun take exit giving birth to night.

Author notes

I hate that the powerlines are seen in this picture...  it would have been PERFECT had they not been in there... but I reckon we need lights eh?

wow, this piece is truly amazing. I love that it just puts you in a better place. I could never be offended by what you said and in fact i was quite touched and moved by your comments on both the poems i have at the moment. On a personal note i am truly encouraged by your openess and dedication to God. One of the things i struggle with in my relationship is to shamelessly promote Him in a world where He is often overlooked. Thank you very much. ???? was just so personal to me that it was more documentation then poetry. It just didn't sound all that great to me. Thank you so much for your encouragement and i pray you keep spreading both your faith and your talent as a poet.

See, I read that and I want to be there, but I'm sooo far away up here in Ohio. This sounds great though, and the picture is the poem and vice versa. Sunsets are fantastic. This is gorgeous again. The first two lines of the second stanza are very special - what a fantastic sound. [huddles down to dream of the beach]

    Outstanding

    This is extremeley good!
Such beautiful, image, feel, essence from this piece.
Excuse this common phrase but it is oozing with delight!
"The gulls and pipers each with it’s own sound
Softly are singing; their love songs abound." These two lines are commendable alone!
"Vivid and bright, the colors intertwine
Lighting up the sky, oh, this is divine!" I don't mean this as a harsh criticsm, but although these two lines are v.good and the rhyme isn't at all forced, I still feel that the word 'Divine' is misplaced, not beacause it doesn't fit, because it does, but throughout the piece there is complete solitude, and then rather abruptly speech is inserted.
Just my thought, please don't take it the wrong way, as I'm sure you won't.
Your vocabulary in this piece, is extrodinary, I was quite fascinated and enriched by your words, I just wanted to hover on each word, and hope it's presence lingered into the next, although that may sound rather strange to you. hehe.
Also another peculiar thing I wanted to mention was the background, and though the background is of hardly any signifigance to the reader, it still set me in a calm mind, ready to be taken into serene surroundings.
Anyway best leave it at that before I carry on rambling!
    Well, fab piece!
May God bless you, all the best, peace...Sadie

Heh, thanks Frog! (I REALLY feel funny calling you Frog LOL) I go to Navarre Beach, usually just before sunset. It's SOOOO peaceful and I feel so close to God there! I don't go to Pensacola Beach because of the celebration they have there once a year... but that beach is just as lovely but it's harder to 'be alone' at P'cola than in Navarre.

    enchanting

Ah this sounds like a place I know oh so well. Pensacola beach! is my favorite place and I almost entered this contest to write about it until I read this perfectly penned peice! This is outstanding... really and I don't know if it's about the Emerald Coast or not, just cause I know you live near my beloved beach or if it's some other place... but I can tell you this.... I could not have penned it more beautifully than this!
Blessings and best wishes... a sure winner!
