Too late for half measures

Missing image

The shark that's swimming in the sea,
He don't really frighten me.
The lion and the crocodile
Now they only make me smile.
What animal's a danger now?
Yes, of course, it is the cow.

Kill a cow, plant a tree
Save the world for you and me.
Ditch that cow, don't eat beef
From greenhouse gases get relief
Us and them, you and me
Everyone must plant a tree.

You need a field to keep a cow
So they cut the jungles down
They’re killing trees down in Brazil
for us to eat what makes us ill
Because of all that beef we're eating
The world is slowly overheating

Trees and leaves are what we’re wanting
Kill those cows and then get planting
The forest that we’ve got can’t cope
New trees are the only hope
Kill a cow, plant a tree
Save the world for you and me.

Feed the cow, he wastes the grass
Mostly it goes out his arse
We spoil the world each time we eat
Supermarket plastic meat
The sausage that you eat each morning
Contributes heat to global warming.

Kill that cow, plant that tree
Save the world for you and me.
Ditch that cow, don't eat beef
From greenhouse gases get relief
Us and them, you and me
Everyone must plant a tree.

cool poem, although I will have to disagree with killing the cow. I come from Jersey CI and our cows are famous for their creamy milk. So, no dont kill our cows, let the sheep have it instead
    Liked the poem though

Thank you very much for entering. By this display of concern for the world we live in, you have already proven yourself goldworthy in my book. I am ill and have little energy so will leave this stock message so as to be able to concentrate my limited energy on judging properly the vast number of entries.
I am gratified by the turnout. Thanks again for your involvement.

    Peace, Rob

A frog who's placed in water (cold)
    Then temperature is increased
Will not attempt to leave the fold
He'll stay until he is deceased

A frog who's dropped in water (hot)
Will jump out of it right away
He doesn't like it, he does not
    He'd rather live another day

And so it is with humankind
    We gradually warm the world
And then one day we wake, to find
Like toast, our edges crisped and curled

Let's plant some forests right away
I'd like to live another day
And if too late it chance to be
At least we'll leave an extra tree

Some day I want to find a tune for this and turn it into a novelty hit parade entry (we can all dream). But I was really trying to do something with mass market appeal so it is callibrated more as a song than pure poetry.

    Excellent

Sing-songy but poignant --- and that's raelly the point, isn't it. Humankind is just not taking it seriously enough. I like the reps -- they are purposeful and well-ponted.

    Bravo, I say.

A poignant take on our present condition. I had to stop eating beef a couple of years ago. It became too hard for me to digest. In a way I am glad I had to let go of this conditioned behavior. I still yearn for a good homemade hamburger. LOL Someday I do hope to eliminate meat from my diet all together. Your poem made me stop to think. We all need to plane a tree or two or three, that's for sure. A very clever poem. I hope we can all unify to save our planet. It seems quite a task to get people to mobilze for a good cause and that makes me sad. The best to you in this challenge.

Interesting take on pollution sadly the cow which is part of the animal kingdom is now a threat with the overdomestication of this and the sheep ...A great almost musical take on Global Warming and and excellent statement ..MacDonalds should use this as their corporate theme song..So much greed not enough thought
