Early Morning (Canoeing part one)

Amber hues light the morning
A loon cry echoes off the worn Appalachians
We cut through the fog
With silent paddles
Miles to go
And exhaustion will set in
But serenity follows every stroke

Author notes

i spent a week canoeing last summer, and plan to write a bunch of poems about the trip... all will be under the nature category but some will also be under humor or angst or weird or whatever

What a beautiful line to open a poem with. Very soothing.

A wondrous poem with extremely enticing metaphors. The mention of the mountains makes me see them, easily. There is serenity in paddling. I've never done it but watching my boyfriend (husband) paddle when I was younger was serene.

    Excellent poetry!

I love that you have written so much description in the brevity of your words.

    Much Love,
    Renee

    BRAVO

Delightful. Absolutely delightful. What visuals of my childhood are returned to me here. The Boundary Waters come to mind, blue skys, crystal clear lakes, yellow hot sun, and miles and miles of quiet water. Ahhhhhh. A pleasure to have read this. ~Pam
