A Warning From The Dead

My sister and I were standing,
By the coffin of our mother.
There she lay so peacefully,
This dream was like no other.

I turned to my sister and said,
"Doesn't she look sweet?"
I started then to turn away,
Others I needed to greet.

Suddenly, I heard a movement,
And much to my surprise.
Mom sat up in her coffin
And looked me in the eyes.

Her hand reached out and grabbed my arm.
It felt just like a vise.
She said, "Listen to me, Darlene,
I have some good advice.

God told me to warn you.
Listen to me well.
If you don't change your way of living,
You will find yourself in Hell."

Right then my eyes flew open.
I jumped up out of bed.
I still felt her hand upon me.
Her words ringing in my head.

I knew that I must change,
And I must do it fast.
For God had called me many times
And this could be the last.

I didn't take it lightly.
My husband and I both prayed.
When we got up from the altar,
We both knew we were saved.

If you should receive a warning,
You know it is from God.
Just give your life to Jesus
And follow the path He trod.

Author notes

This is a true account of what happened to me.  I would not like to experience anything like it again.  God did get my
attention.
