One drop

One small drop of immaterial shape,

Was all that took for this world to die,

In minute shape, but impact great,

Was for what did angels cry.

One small drop of life divine,

Was all that swept the earthly hades,

Blackened the skies , poisoned the waves,

And darkness swept over the skies.

Drops of dew, pearls of the sea,

Pure but not so as this mirth,

As all the pain, all the suffering,

Herald its cruel birth.

One drop was all that took,

To tip the balance of good and evil,

Of blue skies and pleasant winds,

As warlords of earth took their fill.

One drop was all that took,

To drown justice and crime alike,

Passions and grief ceased to burn,

Yet as sunsets, life must go in spite.

One drop overruled the laws of heavens,

But it wasn’t the truth Gods seek,

It was one drop of tear from her eyes red,

Down her pale and lamenting cheek!
