While I may have missed out on the contest of Haiku - for friends, I can still write a Haiku for a friend. Thanks once again for what you do to help us navigate the maze called poetry. Bill

Hi Lyndon:
Your comments say more than I can express in this little box. I couldn't help but agree with all you said. Thank you for your comments and YES it is true. I appreciate you adding to what was said about this wonderful lady. Bill -
Hi Margaret:
Gennelle has been a critiquer, not critic, for me for nearly the entire time I have been posting on AP. We have had many rounds, but she is a tremendous coach. I appreciate all she does, especially for keeping me on the straight and narrow using the English language. I am glad you share this sentiment. Thank you for your wonderful comments. Bill -
Hi Angel:
I believe she was surprised and pleased. She deserves this and more for all she gives. Thanks. Bill -
Hi Charishma:
She is a lovely lady and deserves even more than this, but for someone who loves Haiku, I thought this appropriate. Thanks. Bill -
Wow! A lovely one
-
But Gennelle, what would we do without you? Life would be much less interesting and our writes would go on site, being less than they are capable of being. Thanks for caring enough to make a difference. Bill

There ya go, that's about it! But technically:
asper -era -erum [rough , uneven]; to the taste, [pungent, sour]; to the hearing, [harsh, grating]; of weather, [rough, stormy]; of character or circumstances, [rough, wild, harsh, difficult, severe]. N. as subst. [roughness, a rough place]. Adv. aspere, [roughly].
See, I am an annoying pedant

Perspiration to the stars???? Ron
-
'To the stars through difficulties'
-
You inspire "Through aspiration to the stars". I hope this translation is correct. Ron
-
Aaw, you guys are too much!
And I thought I was just being an annoying pedant

Gennelle is an angel in disguise and everything Bill admires.
like to a swan
white petals of evening
bell to Gennelle
I, myself, have two wonderful friends on AP. Gennelle is one of them because she ... well, is what she is.
Ron.

I agree, Gen is hard to describe any other way. She is my most devoted reader, most supportive commenter, and yet she retains a sharp eye for what may be written by mistake. It is extremely unusual to find that kind of balance; I am pleased and privileged to count her among my friends.

A very sweet sharing this is, my friend! I'm sure she very much appreciated the thoughtfulness behind this piece!

Oh my! How lovely, Bill!
Thank you so much!!
Now I'm speechless
