The Vietnam War FOR NOTHING

It was not a war to defend Christianity.
It was a war to prevent communism's spread.
Communist Ho Chi Minh was loved by the many.
The U.S. Government wanted him dead.

He defeated the French at Din Bien Phoo,
Last foreign invaders till we invaded, too.
The French left a divided country when they withdrew,
Elections, in both North and South, scheduled for 1952.

Knowing Ho Chi Minh would win throughout the country,
Being communist, the U.S. blocked the election in the South,
Set up a puppet government; Ho wanted to unite the country,
So he attacked provencial government heads in the South.

Killings of friendly Vietnamese officials was the excuse
For U.S. to follow China, Japan, France, and invade
The sovereign Vietnamese countryside and use
Napalm to kill people and plants to remove their shade.

We blocked a free election which would have confirmed Ho's rule
Nationwide, but he was communist, we knew best
What those people in their country should think, feel, and do,
Never mind they wanted to be left alone by the West.

After Lyndon Johnson announced he would not run again,
Richard Nixon who won -- promising to "bring our boys home,"
Kept the battle going four more years with no gain
Killing more men FOR NOTHING till the general public began to moan.

58,000+ Americans LOST FOR NOTHING and millions of Vietnamese
Repulsing the invaders of their land, we Americans, if you please.
Our losing, gung ho liar to the press, General William Westmoreland
Finally died at 91, the lying bastard back then in command.

    Love this.

These lines remind me of the mess we're in now...too bad America isn't learning from her mistakes. I really enjoyed this peice. Thank you so much for sharing.

This is more than I knew about the Viet Nam war and now we are in another mess. People dying for profit and world domination. America has been a participant in every war I think since since and including the revolutionary war. We are war mongers, and we do it for money and power.
