Storms In Life

Through many of the storms in life
Those many times of trial and strife
The path we walk will often lead
To show us clearly our life of need
Thus demonstrate our reverence for
What God has done, but even more
It sometimes takes these trials to know
How we must choose our path to go
We'll find this path inside His book
He's left it there for us to look
To read and follow every day
The one who led the perfect way

Author notes

Where do we turn when we encounter the storms in life?  You mush choose your path carefully.  I hope this write gives  you the answer you need.  Thanks for taking the time to read it.  Bill

    Hi loventutu:
I for one and so pleased that you are inclined to read poetry of faith. While all my poems are not such, a number of them are and I would welcome you to read all of them. Your comments are lovely and your faith is evident. Thank you for taking your time to read my poem. Bill

Thanks Gennelle for your wisdom, willingness to help, generosity of time and patience with this student of the English language. I like to keep things simple, with less chance for others misunderstanding what I am trying to say.
    Later! Bill

    Hi Gennelle:
That takes some of the simplicity out of the poem and changes a bit too much of what I am trying to communicate. I do appreciate your input though and maybe I need to soak on it a few days, then look at the results again. Thanks. Bill

    What about something like this:

    'And so demonstrate our dependence
On God, the Lord of our transcendence'

Ah, sorry you misunderstood me, Bill, I was trying to be subtle I was referring to the grammar which, although I realize it messes with the rhyme, still needs to be 'on' to be correct in the sense you intend:

    'Thus demonstrate dependence on
Our God, our Lord from up above'

If you say "dependence of our God', it indicates 'our God' is the subject, hence the one 'dependent' - e.g. in the same way we refer to the 'dependence of our children' (on us), see?

    Hi Genele:
It is always greatly appreciated to have your comments. You are correct that we depend on Him and not the reverse. The applause is appreciated as well and thank you for keeping me focused on what is right. The proceeding line "our life of need" was meant to clearly indicate our need for God. Thanks again. Bill

Very nicely written, Bill, with a lovely timeless message. Your rhyme and meter made it flow so well.
I presume you meant, '..dependence on our God.." (otherwise it would suggest God's dependence on us )

Amen brother!!!!!!! You speak the truth through him who lives in you.
As for your structure it's simple and so are your words. This is good because the Word is simple and direct. Though you have books like Rev. those who study the Word will get it.
That aside you hit it well. I am incouraged by your bold statement of your faith I pray that you keep it up. Your words will bring at elast one to the Faith.
I will leave you with a Quote from The Count of Montie Christo:"Life is a storm one minute you are basking in the sunlight the next you are crashed on the rocks. What makes you a man, is when that storm comes, you shout do your worst and I will do mine."
These are not words of Truth but they reflect the Truth of The Bible.
    God be with you
    Daniel
