Table for One

Valentines day is coming around
and everyones all happy and stuff.
'My boyfriends getting me a diamond ring!'
'Why don't you shut the fuck up?!'

Maybe for them, Valentines day is great.
But for me, Valentines day is something I hate.

People holding hands and kissing,
going to dinner and giving cards.
But what about me?
The one with the lonely heart.

I sit alone and listen to love songs,
but they only make me cry.
Other people can relate to them,
but not me, no not I.

I don't know what its like to be held,
in another's warm embrace.
I don't know what its like
to not be afraid to show my face.

I don't want to hear about the flowers,
that he sent you with a ring.
I don't want to hear these stupid love songs,
that these singers want to sing.

I don't see how Valentines day
can be any fun.
When on this 'special' night,
there's me getting a table for one.

    Awwww this is a really sad one, but it is true for the ones that are not with anyone, or have just split up from someone they loved. I like the way this one rhymed, and it was said from the heart. Hugs....Sugar. x

    Awww...this is sad...because it reflects the pain of being alone on the Love Day. Sigh...I have been here myself..and it stinks....grr. Well you did a fantastic job with creating this poem.
