the great thing is, the written word lives on long after the author is did. Words have no mortality

    Marvelous

Well, I am sure to keep this one close to heart. The tendency here at the Mecca of poetry in the western world (sarcasm) is for many to pass by too quickly when reading. So many do not stop, take a sip of tea and truly reflect on what is being said. I happen to believe this author has more depth than a great many who post here, myself included. I have found Gregg to be a brilliant author and the key to his brilliance is clearly stated here in this marvelous bit of brevity. I believe that life is truly found where Gregg has stated. It is within the last line penned, this truth. The key is not found in the Author or the Philosophy. The essence is not held within mortality and certainly not immortality. The vital thing is not even what lies between the writing and the speaking – although it is one of the greatest strengths I think Gregg possesses – what lies between the writing and speaking is the listening – and that, truly is where Gregg lives. Listening, it’s not done enough. What I am trying to get to is that even though listening is a great thing compared to the writing and the speaking, the crux of this whole poem is found between immortality and mortality - - life. ~ Gregg lives. ~ He lives each day for its glory and spends the time, takes the time, makes the time to listen - - and live. The only questions left for me as I read this, do I listen? What, who, am I listening to? And am I truly LIVING each day as it is? I hope to do so, especially when I have such a strong reminder as this poem
    Blessings and best wishes, ~richard
