A Heart Slowly Breaking

A heart that's slowly breaking
Freezes a moment in time,
Reverting back to lost days
Of rhythm, youth, and rhyme.
Through the glass of a crystal tear
Comes into focus one face;
The face of a future and destiny
Lost in humanity's race.

A heart that's slowly breaking
Freezes a moment in time,
Remembering dark mornings and evenings,
Filled with the passion of a crime.
Soul of a lover lost,
Thought to be gone for good;
And yet here returns the feeling
Of the misery that never would...

A heart that's slowly breaking
Breaks into a piece of time;
A heart that's slowly breaking
Reminds me of a heart of mine.

Author notes

A piece I wrote a while ago (a few years) about *A heart that's slowly  breaking/Can freeze a moment in time*... that all just came back to me as one lonely tear escaped from my eyes before I remembered the vow I made; never again, not again.
