An American Voice

Dearest land of my fathers pride,
there's been times we disagree.
On policies, can't be denied.
But of our quest for world democracy,
you and I shine our best, this I see.

I will not stand ideally in silence by,
listening to agenda driven bold face lie.
From a few of who wish to deceive the masses,
calling down the thunder of American middle classes.
This land was made for you and me,sweet land of liberty.

Our ancestors gave their all to defend our freedom,
from twisting our constitutional laws without reason.
This is my country!,America the beautiful! is ours.
Sea to shining sea, purple mountains majesty,to the stripes and stars.

Our constitutional right to voice dissent and vote legally,
is what makes America a freedom powered democracy.
My momma didn't raise any blind non-thinking sheep,
so if calling me unpatriotic makes you righteous think!
If anyone denies another a voice in their future balance,
they are mentally deranged and bear America great malice.

This strong nation was founded on dissent from tyranny,
I am an American and I have a voice in my own history.

I clearly read the poem and my perception was different. It doesn't matter if she doesn't support Bush, she supported America which was one of the met criteria.
I understand she doesn't support Bush, I was just saying that this would've been excellent if she did! Other Democratic poems that I had removed basically created the idea "I love America, but Bush can burn in hell". However, she indicated that she loved America and was proud.
Do not make fun of my perceptions, especially when you may not have read my contest's rules properly.

My write is an effort to remind all Americans this is a democracy of freedom and choice.Born of our founding fathers fore site in laying down a constitutional law of the land that serves all equally. If even one person derives a better understanding of American pride in this endeavor to stand in civil equality and vote their informed conscience in future elections,it's served US all.

    A TRULY WONDERFUL POEM

Your deep feelings are here for all to read. Yes, this is a country of freedom of choice and certain inalienable rights.

Gee that's odd! I also wrote about one of the things she said to write about and ol' Snackycakes ( or is it babycakes?)threw mine out. I supported our troops. I guess she didn't really read your write or didn't understand that even though you didnt actually say it, you were bashing Bush.
I do agree with her that this write was well done. If only you had thrown some Bush in there, you would have automatically won GOLD according to her. She is serious too.

No no no! That's what I noticed about your poem and liked about it!
I've just seen so many poems that say pretty much "I love Aemrica, but Bush can burn in hell". That's not what I want for this contest. I either wanted "I support Bush and love America" or just plain "I love America" poems. So don't worry, you met the criteria. I'm just saying that I wish you supported Bush and threw some of that in there and this would have automatically been gold- lol.
But no pressure, really. You did well and you supported America. You didn't mention Bush, but that's okay, as long as you wrote about one of the things I said to write about. So well done!

Julie, just as my write says.I do support America for the good of us all.You must respect my right to have an opinion just as I respect the same in you. That's what it's all about don't you see.We both have inalienable rights to say our minds, vote our hearts and live free as our forefathers intended. This is why a goodly number of my ancestor fought for this country and worked so hard self included to maintain that freedom of speech.lol

This is really well thought out, but my contest was 'Support George Bush AND America'. I'm really happy with this piece, I just wish you had thrown in some support in there. But you still have a chance, so don't worry.

We may have some serious issues facing our country today, but I'd rather be here than anywhere else...At least here, we have the right to stomp our feet on the soap box & push for change...& we've come pretty damned far in the 230 years we've been around...We put a man on the moon, after all...among many other significant achievements...We live in a land of Beauty...from what I've seen of it, I know I'd like to see more...well done, suse... Fabtastic rant

Whoa! You should be a politician! Way to go!
    I loved this rant!
Noticed a couple uh so we say---type-os?
    tyranny is not spelled right.
    dissent is also spelled wrong

I love America. I am one of the proud Americans there are today. It's such a disgrace to be brought up in a generation of people who do not, not only don't take pride in their own country but actually defend others who use terrorism to bring us down. I am not sure why it's so hard to love this great nation, but I can tell you I am another American, like who, who has a voice and who uses it. Bravo. Great write. Very interesting and controversal topic.
