And everything you've done for me
I smile and I thank you.
But then I remember
How much I don't deserve
I can't keep the tears from my eyes.
I've never known a love so strong
Than someone would die
Abandoned by his friends
Alone in his disgrace.
Even then
More than I run towards you
I'm running the wrong way
Only to return for a place to hide
A firm rock to stand on
When my whole world trembles
And when it stops I run again.
And even then
Your arms are always open
To hold me when I cry
And dry my tears
And make me smile again
And no matter how many times I run
No matter how far I try to go
You're never more than a prayer away.
Your love is never changing
Even while you watch me
Fleeing for the horizon
And no matter where I run
I can always cry out to you
And know you're there.
There is nothing I can do
Nothing I can give
That can ever repay what you have given
And what you do for me.
All I can give
Is what you have already given
And saved from eternal fire.
I lay at your feet
My life a living sacrifice
Do with it what you will

Erm... yeah. I wrote this a while ago during church. It was kind of inspired by the song "Strong Tower" on Kutless's Strong Tower CD blended in with a little "Am I Understood?" by RelientK. i prayed this prayer sometime over the summer... i can't exactly remember when, though

Thank you!! I was trying to revise it and make it not so wordy but it felt like i couldn't without taking out some of the meaning... it's for the spiritual poem option in case it wasn't clear enough... Thanks again!!

I'm sorry I never commented on this poem...I think it's amazing. Beautiful, and very spiritual. God is always tehre...his love is forever, and you brought it out...you seriously brought it out.
I don't know what to say, but this is an amazing poem. It could become a song as tim said...still an amazing poem.

actually, i started out trying to write it as a song, but i couldn't really make it work... soooo it just turned into a poem. i wish i could make it work as a song... oh, well! it'll come someday thanks, tim!!
