The talk at the club - of nothing else.
The sky hazy yellow with the heat;
The undernourished animals
and children dusty with drought;
The land brown,
as far as the eye can see.
Then one day in October
the heavens open.
The rains are here,
cleaning, refreshing
cooling, greening.
The squelch of footsteps
and the scent of wet earth.

A beautiful poem, well written and with imagery depicting the dry and wet seasons.....
I love the scent of the Earth after a rainfall, you took me back home to Puerto Rico, where there are times of dryness, and then it rains so much..... AngelicMistress
