His love in my life was always constant,
from the day he rocked me in his arms.
Loved me even though I did not listen,
tried his best to shelter me from harm.
Dad would never raise his voice in anger,
he showed his love in many special ways.
Making me feel special was his gift to me
Till our sweet Lord took my Dad away.
He was a man of laughter and compassion,
could brighten up the gloomiest of days.
So very easy going and so good natured,
I remember all these things of him today.
If all the world would be like my father
there would never be a need for war.
All children would be loved and wanted,
all the pain and sorrow would be no more.
Only one man I put above my dear father,
God too has blessed me with eternal love.
I looked up to you all my life dear Dad,
now I look up to you in Heaven above.

this was a great and wonderful write about your father!!!! I know u must miss him but I hope u know he is watching over you and when its your time to go home he will be waiting for you to walk through those gates and he want be waiting alone. Am sure your father and your son will welcome you home together! God Bless and great poem!

this almost made me cry. im sorry for your loss. this poem also made me smile, for two reasons. that you looked up to him and thought of him so fondly and this made me think of my dad. this was written beautifully. it was a great idea to write a poem about him, you are a VERY talented writer. ive really enjoyed reading your work.
