Die Symphonie des Lichtes

Falling further, I'm circled like prey
back in the forest whence whispers persuade
memories betrayed, sweet brilliance decayed
weighted by tainted chains caging crippling pain
enslaved in broken shackles locked at my veins

Engraved like a memory too painful to bear
carved like a shadow in the halls of despair
evanescent like the sound of decay
I was blinded in a world I couldn’t see

I remember the night as if it were engraved
a pale marble moon swept across darkened waves
ripping from the tainted chains that kept me a slave
I took one last look at the road I paved

Within the pale confines of the moon’s open heart
I prayed in silent hands deep sorrows part
upon swollen knees fading into night
I open my eyes to the newborn light

This is such a great poem! Dark and sad, just the way I love to read 'em. But I feel you strayed a bit from the topic... maybe it's just me. Anyway, you get third place in my contest! And a nice bronze trophy to show off on your author's page. Thanks so much for entering!
