Lost Love

I never asked for this weight on my back
Reaching for help before my shoulder bones crack

It's times like these when I need you the most
But when I reach out I reach out to a ghost

So many directions with nowhere to turn
Set me alight and just watch me burn

Being a soldier without reason to fight
Hearing you laugh as you set me alight

It's painful memories that don't fade so fast
When all that I love is pushed into my past

Holding on to what never existed
What did I say? My words have been twisted

Darkness she is everywhere
Caressing my face and pulling my hair

My hands are bruised and my legs seem broken
My lips will bleed as your name is spoken

Icy silence grips my skin
Sucking out the warmth within

Return to me, my heart, you must
Before all the remains is ashes and dust.

Author notes

After writing this I read it and felt scared that I actually felt that way!!

favorite line. Don't be scared of your writing. Embrace the darkest thoughts. for thats where true poetry comes from.

"My hands are bruised and my legs seem broken

I like how you described the darkness, Very well written. You can feel the amount the person misses smeone in this. Good Job.

You have portraied your lover leaving in a very nice way. I especially liked that way you have ended the poem. It shows that you really did like the person concerned. But as life goes on so must you. Best of luck and thanks for entering.
