Calling All Dogs

Missing image

They were two cute puppies
named Yankee and Doodle
they went to town eating
grandma's apple strudel.

It was on thanksgiving day
about a quarter to three
the turkey was on the table
looking tempting as can be.

Yankee looked at Doodle, he
said, "Do you see what I see"
Doodle said,  "Yip I sure do
I am getting very hungry."

Well pulling the tablecloth
the bird dropped to the floor
then this two little thieves
pulled the bird out the door.

Well the aroma attracted
all the dogs on the street
they all sat and devoured
the white and dark meat.

All that remained there was
a  drumstick picked clean
then out came their master
with a face looking mean.

He was ranting and raving
could not believe his eyes
my bird was picked clean
by just you two little guys?

Then Yankee and Doodle
were sent straight to bed
to dream of fat turkeys
for they still were not fed.

    Cute

that was a very cute and funny poem
very nicely written with an awesome rhyme and flow

there are a couple of corrections, in stanza three, you can say either "Yankee WHO LOOKED at Doodle said" or "Yankee looked at Doodle AND said" also you should put " " marks at the start of a quotation or sentence said or something, also "Doodle SAID...." not "say"

anyway i really liked it and enjoyed reading it very much
    so keep on writing
and good luck in the contest

Hi there! I am not reading your poem with obvious reference to the title...yet at least I can be called faithful and man's best friend. ..
The poem is sweet and the picture sweeter...beautifully done with those doses of humour that have you in splits....Shubs

tee,,hee I love it too! I love little doggie poems anyway cause I have a great fondness for that particular animal. Having said that, the human likeness you added to these two adorable animals was really creative. I used to have a boxer, and now I have a minature Austrailian Shephard, both of which I could see being a character in your poem!! They are so cunning and sneaky, well at least they think they are. Good luck in the contest, this was a really cute poem.
