Goodbye
Goodbye and Goodnight...
But before you go,
Things will be alright,
You made that so...
And when we think about you,
We will try not Weep
I know it's hard and the pain is Deep...
We will remember you,
Even when you Sleep...
Sleep...
Sleep...
So, don't close your eyes,
The game hasn't ended,
I know your mind is tired,
And Your Body's winded.
But just hold on,
And don't let go...
Stay awake a little longer,
So we can let you know...
You're still with us,
And we love you so.
The Clock is winding now,
Your time is near,
There is nothing left, but to fight our Fear,
The Fear...
Of losing you,
It has started to happen,
And We don't know what to do.
So, Goodbye and Goodnight...
And now that your gone...
It is hard to believe,
That Life still goes on.
December 18th...
on that dreadful Sunday...
Joanna Dickson passed away...
A caring Teacher,
and mother of two.
She passed so young,
She never knew...
How much...
we loved her too.
Goodbye and Goodnight...
It's hard to believe that now you're deceased.
By the Father,
The Son,
And the Holy Spirit,
Rest in Peace...
Amen

It sounds like euthanasia or at least like some welcome release from pain that everyone recognized as welcome, in a way.
The mention of the date she died is very realistic, something that will stay with you always.

A wonderful tribute...thank you so much for the entry. It is plain how treasured she was.

great
What a rough read. This was really a touching and wonderful read. The entire poem from first word to last was simply beautiful. -
combining 'goodbye' and 'goodnight' really makes this poem personal to the reader...at least it did for me. this is a tough subject to write about but you've done it justice

This gave me goosebumps reading it. I can't believe there are not comments on this piece. This pulled a giant memory from my head of the day my mother died. You hit that emotion on the head for sure. I knew it would happen any minute, and the only thing I could do is not be afraid for her or for myself for that matter. It's by far the hardest moment in my life thus far.
