Hemingway's Long Journey Home

The appeal of life without it's zest,
he could not live it second best.
Marriage courted him yet in vain,
his vision lost in sodden tears of pain.
           ~~~~~
In no one place could he feel at home,
traveling afar searching warmth unknown.
Just what was lacked ,just wasn't found,
deep roots unplanted in Terra Firma's ground.
               ~~~~~
Heroism's triumph of war was no release,
though some was gained in written piece.
Literary accolades fell short in easing pain,
finding solace in bottle's dried and drained.

             ~~~~~
This sad man aged in languishing years,
seeking refuge in lowly bar room's jeers.
Taking comfort in Caribbean palm's sway,
befriending cats three toed he faded away.
             ~~~~~

This face I adore holds such fantastic stories,
I wish him peace from his manic monsters gory.
If only I could of known this literary shooting star,
before his pain drove him away so very far.

               ~~~~~
    Very good Chuck - and I WILL applaud, it deserves it, though it would benefit from a little tweaking here and there.
    I'm afraid I don't share your knowledge of Hemingway ; I can't remember reading any of his stuff, and I don't know much about him, so you've enlightened me.
    Lovely tribute to an AMAZING writer and a very deep man. So much in this man, so much to know and learn about, yet he was often hidden in himself. Well done and a pleasure to read.
    As a true fan of Hemingway and his writings, I can really relate to this wonderful poem. I loved it. I write in a totally differentstyle than you do but I wish my writing was more like yours. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece with me.
