Why?

There seems to be
So much tragedy
That happens to me
And to thee,
And since the only constant
Is me or thee
It's hard not to think:
It's fate,
It's my fault,
It's karma,
I'm unconsciously attracting it,
There must be some meaning to it,
There is no meaning to it,
It's all chance and
I'm just the one
On the statistical dark side,
If I have Faith I can change it,
If I don't step on the cracks
I won't break my mothers back.

Now I think that
We operate under three laws:
Fate, Chance and Will,
And that sometimes,
If we are lucky or cursed enough
To be noticed by the Gods,
Bad things are Their brutal way
Of teaching us our lesson,
Giving us will and
Keeping us awake.
In my opinion, for the most part,
The stage, the play, the parts are written.
Our only real choice, to learn our lesson.

Author notes

Why? may be the fourth big question after the big three: Who am I, why am I here and where am I going?  It is possible to know the answer to this fourth question, but knowing changes nothing.  Answer the first three.  That changes things, for the better.

I agree with this but not necessarily the order of the questions. I do believe that the things we go through in life are to teach us what we need to know and how we want our lives to be. Bad relationships show us how NOT to treat others and how we wish to be treated. We go through these things until we learn what we should know. Therefore it would stand to reason everyone should stop being stubborn and learn their lessons the first time around. Thanks for entering and good luck.

I really, really like what you wrote here. You seem to have put alot of thought into this. Maybe not for this writing or contest but one can tell that these thoughts have crossed your mind more than once
You give alot of thought as to why and what and many theories on the subject. I also like your commentary and you are right about the 3 questions you asked and saying maybe this is the 4th.

Thanks so much for entering our contest and Good Luck. Be Well and Be Blessed

Our life is a great question, each day is a question, but sometimes we must live and be thankfull for that posibility what was given to us - we have a chance to make things better. As you said: We operate under three laws:
    Fate, Chance and Will,

Trying to answer why things happen is like going around in circles - we never reach the end or find the answer, we just keep asking more questions. Like the three years old who constantly asks why every time you give him an answer to the previous why he asked. Kind of like what if... Can't keep second guessing everything that goes on. Hope you find peace somewhere and can accept things as they are and go on from there. Make the best of things and dare to dream.
