Bloodthirsty

Halloween. It's just a fun day filled with candy, trick-or-treating, costumes, etc...or is it?
It all happened when I was walking home from a Halloween party. I live by myself in a small flat in Paris. My boyfriend left me a couple of weeks ago, he used to drink, smoke and when he was in a really bad mood, hit me. I fought back of course, people can't just walk over me like that and I kicked him out of my life. So I'm alone now.
And I was alone when I was walking home too. It was a dark, dark night. The sky was inky black, there was a full moon. Everything was calm as I turned into a dark alleyway, a shortcut. I shivered and pulled my jacket tighter over me.
I stopped. There, in front of me was a young man. He seemed to be in his late twenties. Actually, not much older than me. Noticing me, he walked over and I could see him clearly. He had a pale face with pale blue eyes and jet black hair.
'Heya. You seem kind of cold.'
He had an icy voice, not menacing but as expressionless as his eyes where. It made me feel colder than I already was. I nodded.
'Do you want to come over to my flat? It's just round the corner, you can have a hot drink and tell me about yourself, if you want of course.'
'Ok, that sounds good. Thank you.'
I followed him as he led me down a series of twisting, dark alleyways, similar to the one we had just left. I lost all sense of direction, concentrating on the very handsome guy in front of me.
After 10 minutes, we stopped in front of an old door with peeling paint. The guy opened it and we walked it. It smelled so foul inside that I reeled backwards. It stank of blood. Old blood. Fresh blood. And a need for blood.
I turned around, hearing a noise. My mysterious guide had locked the door and had a hungry look in his eyes. Suddenly I felt very afraid.
'Who are you?' I asked, trying to sound brave and sure of myself.
'Don't know if it would be wise to tell you,' he answered. Chuckling at his own lame joke. He didn't seem as cute as I had thought.
'Try me.'
'Right, you seem very brave. Well, if you want to know straight away, I suppose...follow me...' he trailed off.
We went up a pair of rickety old stairs. I, in front and my aggressor behind. He stopped me when we got to a narrow hallway with only one door leading from it, at the very end. I was shoved towards it. The door was opened and I was pushed into Hell, or at least the closest thing to it.
We were on the second or third floor in a building in Paris but the door had lead us into a cellar. The walls where made of stone with slime everywhere. There was water leaking from the ceiling but it didn't help to wash the blood on the ground. Old blood. Fresh blood. The need for blood.
And that wasn't it. There were bodies strewn everywhere. Carelessly lying in piles. Chalky white women, dried up bodies without a single drop of blood in them. As frail as sheets of paper.
Then I understood everything. The young man was a vampire. He lead women into his lair, killed them and drank their blood. It happens once a year but oh, what a horrible time of year it is.
I screamed but it was too late, the vampire swooped down on me and bit my neck with his pointy teeth. I felt the blood streaming out, into his mouth, down his throat. And he kept drinking more and more. I could feel everything, I was still alive but couldn't do anything. I just stood there, faint, limp in his arms, weaker and weaker as my blood left me.
I wanted to die. I wanted it all to end. I couldn't stand being so helpless, I'm a fighter. But it was hopeless. I felt it all slipping away...

The vampire let go of the body in his arms. This woman had once been very beautiful, when she was alive. But she was dead now. No use. He kicked her into another pile of white chalky bodies and sighed. How good it felt, to drink the blood he had craved for as he had waited for this day to come. Â
He went outside and through the maze of twisting alleyways, searching for his next victim.

Watch out...it could be you...it could be anybody...
