You cannot fight or enforce an idea
With a bomb or a bullet.
You can only engage an idea
With another idea,
For ideas are infectious
And spread between beings
At the speed of sound.
By the time a bullet leaves a barrel,
The idea towards which
It may have been aimed
Is out of range, but
Another idea can follow.
Still, an idea can have,
Seemingly contradictory,
Effects on another idea.
A body has six basic processes:
Growth, Digestion, Elimination,
Corruption, Healing and Regeneration.
Ideas, bodies of thought,
Have the same six basic flavors,
And the same relationship,
One to another.
Ideas of Growth require
Ideas of Digestion
And, yes, Elimination
To sustain them.
Ideas of Corruption require
Ideas of Healing
And, yes, Regeneration
To repair them.
Complications arise
When ideas of Digestion
And Elimination are applied
To ideas of Corruption or
When ideas, yes, of Healing
And Regeneration are applied
To ideas of Growth.
The first leads to
Cycles of violence
Where no useful idea
Can be implemented.
The second leads to
Cycles of disconnectedness
Where no useful idea
Can be effective.
Ideas must be applied
In their correct
Order and Realm
If they are to engage
Another idea effectively.
Ideas of Violence must be addressed
With ideas of Understanding,
Forgiveness and Reparation.
Ideas of Development must be addressed
With ideas of Inclusion,
Patience and Hope.
Bullets and bombs can only be addressed
With Agony, Horror and Death,
And with yet more
Bullets and bombs.

First of all, this is an example of what I call a thought poem. In most of my work, the sound or the song is an integral part. In this poem, try not to hear the words or even to visualize. If you've ever done any Buddhist Meditation or what Fourth-Wayers call stopping thought, you'll understand more easily.
Memes are to ideas the same as cells to the body or viruses to a cold. They are the most basic structures of concept. Memes of "hammer", "nail", "wood" and "strike" are essential to the concept of framing a house. It appears to me that memes fall into certain categories and that some do work well with others only in certain orders. The meme "destroy" does not work well simutaneously with the meme "create". It must come before or after, just as a painter may paint over an old canvass in order to paint a better painting.
