The Fire at the Center

St. Paul, you will recall,
Took a header from his horse
While on missions to kill Christians
Or so he thought of course.

When that light'ning, Oh! so fright'ning
It did strike him with remorse,
He became a Christian on a mission,
To be reckoned with, a force.

You may think your life reliable,
That you've garnered every resource,
Yet one day you'll find you may
See fate divorce you from your course.

Amidst degradation, even adulation,
You'll think you have no recourse...

Then and there is where
You may find the fire in your marrow.
From that cliff so high and Oh! so narrow,
It will dive straight as an arrow
To the center of your soul.
You'll find a whole new goal.
Your very Will shall be your Source.

Author notes

Wrote this in my head driving from one job to the next.  Saw a sign for St. Paul Street.  Usually it's not that easy, but there it was, just spit out of my strange brain like some sort of natural function.
