Dad, Dad, and More Dad

Part I: Real Life Dad

I am a real-life father to a girl, I am
my girl is... WHAT? 16 already?
Nooooooo! This can’t be happening!
Just yesterday she was my new-born baby!

Well, that explains why she argues with everything I say
as a matter of principle day after day...
Keeps my arguments sharp, yes she does
and patience I’ve developed
just because...

and that's why she's behind the wheel of a car
with dad next to her- (mom doesn't have the nerve!)
so dad's have their place, and they don't have a clue
that they're doing what the mom's know better not to do!

Part II: AP Dad

Here on AP a dad is a guide
and a safe male voice in a young girl’s life
that can go way beyond mere writing critiques
of which there is no formula for such mystical techniques...

To just be here to impart male wisdom or folly
both are equally of important value
when a girl is probing for a male response
and how it compares to a feminine view...

How much farther beyond writing an AP dad can go
is limited by many intervening things
but moments of caring, love, and simple advise
are moments spent wisely for this would-be King.

Dad, uncle, brother, grandpa, nephew,
son, great-grandfather and hubby, too
I've become them all on AP, and the roles are the same-
to be there for that male point of view!

    Excellent

This is an awesome write, the would be King! You made me smile how it is, being a male figure here in AP, like you have all the jobs in your hands, not only those but an advisor also, how can you cope with everything? lol... I think you have so much in your plate, so with being a real dad, and who knows perhaps you are whom others ask for advise at work also! lol.. You are in demand my brother, very popular and I don't know how you cope with your schedules! It is kind of hectic!
I love this poem, it is very wholesome and very heartwarming.
    Lovely as ever!

lol, I suppose in that case the stalker list works both ways. The people that I stalk... it's fun. (uh oh, I'll turn into some evil stalker dude when I'm older ... that wouldn't be good)

And I see you scrolled down and saw my entire message. Yeah!

Oh, is THAT the meaning of your 'stalker' list! (and I thought it was people stalking YOU...!) lol (logical conclusion, since I'm on it!)

WOAH! The beginning of this poem hit so close to home today... actually that's what happened in my house today. My parents are in shock that I'm 16 already- only 1 1/2 of high school, driving, getting a job, etc. Crazy, I went through this today!

And I sooooooooooooo argue (debate, actually... about really unimportant things ) with my real life dad as well... except that hasn't helped his patience, lol!

Ah yes, now we get into the part you care about... the AP life, and what I think of it.

(wouldn't it be mean if I simply stopped my comment here?)

...I hope you remembered this time to scroll down. (don't want to cause you another eart attack!)

Now, "Male wisdom or male stupidity, that is the question!". LOL It all depends, it all depends...

So true though, the AP families were designed for writing critiques... but the relationships do so often go beyond that. You get stalker lists for instance, the people you bug the most, and don't leave alone.

Well, overall "Dad, Dad, and More Dad" is quite a decent write that does expose quite a few truths... while keeping the author's true feelings out of it. Very well done!
