I've travelled this road for so long now,
I cannot remember the start.
The journey has been long and painful,
And left so much weight on my heart.
The people I've met at the pit stops,
The ones I will never forget,
One by one all seemed to leave me,
And probably feel no regret.
I've found life is nothing but darkness,
A road that quite simply won't end.
You never can see what is coming,
What's waiting around every bend.
I know that I've often made wrong turns,
Decisions weren't always made right.
I wish there was light here to guide me,
To offer me some divine sight.
I've travelled this road for so long now,
I know that I've made my mistakes.
I only hope heaven will take me,
For this battered traveller aches.
