I stand beneath the silent skies
Too far away to hear the sound
Of planes that threatened worlds
Of buildings falling down
But I can feel the ripple
Of thousands of souls that mourn
Of mothers weeping for their kids
Of a flag… now brutally torn
I stand beneath the silent skies
Awed by what I know
Terrorists unknown
Have struck a potent blow
I can feel the ripple
Of millions of hearts that grieve
For loss of life, and confidence
In so much we believe
I stand beneath the silent skies
Horrified by what I see
Independence compromised
Here, in the land of the free
I can feel the ripple
Of changes that will last
A ripple felt around the world
Echoes of the blast
I stand beneath the silent skies
Where not one plane is found
A monument to fear
A tribute in the lack of sound

Author notes
I actually wrote this the day after... But I think we are still feeling the ripples. I hope it's alright that I submitted it.

I love it. Of course it is alright. It is more then alright it was truely amazing! It flows like the wind so calm as no other moment in time. Words that truely show compassion and a very kind heart. Very emotional this is. Thank you very much for postion on this. I might not post to this challenge as I feel exampt in a way for running it. I will enjoy more then writing one seeing others who will speak more then I can now. Excellent!!!!!!!1
