Desert Song Of My Spirit

How can it be
some strong emotions defy,
expressing it in words
that no language supplies~
How do I write
how my spirit sails on a wind,
or the spiritual communion
with the creator within.

I am awe-struck, left speecheless
and dumbfounded,
Just hearing these emotions
within compounded~
This Native American voice
in a wondrous message,
so genuinely earthy
complex in all
a true sage is.

His language is alien
opposite of any I've heard,
yet speaks in a common thread
that is completely understood~
His prayer to the Great Spirit
encompasses all that is life,
from first kiss
to conceptional beginnings
in his spiritual insights.

Thankful for blessings of loves
that he's known
and cherished,
memories treasured in moments
even trial lessons
in his message~
Giving thanks for generousity
of natures bounty bestowed,
the seasons of change
magical  spirits assistance
even, of the buffalo.

I feel a heavy wind from the canyon
breathed in dry heat on his face,
see lightning
over a distant mesa
feel cooling rain sweat's displaced~
I  see a vision of this sage
in buckskin
full headdress stands at the rim,
hands held high to the heavens
in prayer emotion
filled to the brim.

This music speaks
to the spirit within me
of long forgotten innocence,
in purest heart's elation
of joys adulations
and deepest regretted laments~
Mere words that I know
could never describe
my souls emotion filled story,
chanted
by such real wisdom
as his past down
in generational glories.
The words of his soul's song
matches each of my heart's notes,
Are interwined
as ascending spirits rise
to the heavens
and effortlessly float~

I really liked this poem. I was impressed with its length and I was really moved by it. It had a great lyrical content, and I really liked how you made ahh, how to explain. You used words that would almost rhyme, but just missed, and in a way it still rhymed. I just thought it was really good, and I enjoyed reading this.
I just thought I'd mention this particular line, 'could never described' I think that you meant describe and it's just a typo.
I hope you do well in this contest.

I was raised aroudn the Blackfoot Language and when I first heard Cree...I understoaod what they were saying. My mother-tongue was Cree and I was three months old when I was taken from it. How strong is the language of love....!!!!

I really like this. This has a way of sliding smoothly into the depth of my soul and touching me in places that not many poems reach. The image seems to be so tailor made for the poem as well. You really did an awesome job here. Thank you for the great read.
