Angel's Tears

As I was walking,
across the yard today
I felt a splatter on my hand
I raised my eyes to meet the sky
As it stretched across the land.
I wondered if the angels had noticed
The pain inside my heart
And if this was their way of saying
“We’re never far apart”
For it seemed these days
That everything was going wrong

And though the sun was shining
And warming my back…
My heart inside was breaking
I felt every jolt and tear
I felt every piece
Slipping through my hands
This was a pain I could not stop
It was a hurt I could not heal~
This pain was reaching its claws into my soul
It was scratching out my heart

It was tearing away my tissue
It was burning my very body
I could run, but I could not escape…
For it followed me everywhere I went…                
I tried to scream in utter silence
I tried to bite my teeth
I tried to cry, laugh, be angry
But nothing helped…
For it’s what people call a heartache
That was living deep within
Only time could manage
To heal the pain
It’s what you get for loving
For giving love all you’ve got
For taking the risk, making the jump
Never letting go
And so this hurt I carry
As Angel teardrops fall
Unto my hand and bless me
For always loving you.
They give me hope to carry on
Lying silver on my hand
So now you know
After all I go through
Why I love you just the same!
