It's time again for that cherished day
Just one shy of 40, your memories gray
The hearing goes first, followed by sight
Then poor driving and feelings contrite
You watched shows like M*A*S*H*, Ted Turner was in charge
Disco was hot, and Nintendo sold at large
Star Wars was introduced to theaters high and low
The fad to have a walk-man was beginning to grow
Pac-Man was introduced, and MTV was the rage
Cell phones in cars and The Simpson's hit the stage
Who shot JR? And Lennon was now gone,
The Cosby Show began, Lucille Ball made a wrong.
Yes you've seen many things, some memories may stay
You're acting and directing in this historic play
You'll ponder the past, and fear whats to come
Vacations galore then carpal-tunnel you'll succumb
But no need to worry, you're still in your prime
To eat what you want, and have a great time!
So dance like your 20 and throw a steak on the grill
After all, 1 more year and you're over that hill!

This is sooo cute. It doesn't really make me thing of my mom very much...just my grandma. That's probably just because she watches M*A*S*H all the time.
As far as the poem goes, it flows GREAT! Everything rhymes, everything fits just right. The message is wonderful too. When I'm that old I want to be reminded to dance like I'm 20, and throw a steak on the grill. I love steak!
This piece makes me smile, it's so great! Thank you for sharing, and I hope to read more from you!!
p.s. Lennon's gonnneee!
