The Grand Canyon Revisited

Taste of warm desert's kiss in the scent of sage
new in a breath of sunrise, older yet then any age.
Listen to the whispers on the four corner winds
calling out to your memories to remember when.

Feel earth mother's sweet tears in drops of cool rain,
hear them beckoning you now calling out your name.
Feel her presence brush lightly against your skin,
as dust sweeps up canyon walls in whispering winds.

Spirits passing right through your warm living flesh ,
fills your heart with ancient memories from the past.
Swirling around you from your head to your toes,
a spirit of a great ancestral linage in blood flows.

In blueness of an infinite sky far reaching and wide,
between thunderclouds gaze in the great spirit's eyes.
See the Eagle wing his way cross canyon maze,
On earth all is equal in harmony alive in it's own
place.

Such a peaceful harmony in all that is nature revives my soul,
Knowing nature owns us, all things are equal in purpose it owns.

I'm studying Carol, that which I already knew in my heart to be Native philosophy but wasn't capable to pen till I read the words from great ones.Such as all need to heed in"treat the earth well,it was not given to you by your parents. It is loaned to you by your children".

You forgot to mention that it's f**g cold up there!
I visited in february when it was about 70F in LV, and I went up there in a t-shirt.
All the Jap tourists had overcoats on.
    "Idiots", I thought.
Silly me - I had to buy a jumper!

"Ah, Suseann-this is a stunning work of art! I love it! You set it up beautifully with your first stanza~ "warm desert's kiss in the scent of sage"I live in the desert and certainly understand the scent of sage. You stirred up memories in me as I was reading this. Nicely done!!! vj
