Why?

We look to the North Star
To see where we are.
Do the stars fill the bill
As we look up sitting still
Into the night sky
And ask the question: why?

Wanderers, like the planets,
We are lost.
Every day
We go our way
The Milky Way starry host
Is engrossed
In circles of their own
While we roam.

We need the star of Bethlehem,
That led the wise men,
Divine star to light our way
Instead of TV that now so holds sway.
Oh for something real!
Not TV spiel.

Is this my God?
TV didn't make me!
Now, let's see....
What did make me?

I make no sound
As I look up into the sky.
Who and what am I?
Where may the answer be found?

Where is that answer I'm looking for?
Find it wishing upon a star?
Where would you go?
Does anyone know?

In what book can I find
My Maker's mind
Better expressed
Than in the rest?

The Bible, do you think
Is to our Maker our link?
I will give that book a try
And maybe I will learn why.

Ellis

Phenomenal! I love the rythm(sorry if I spelled that wrong)! I love how you used the wordings and you changed the pattern a bit! I always wonder exactly the same thing! You put down a lot of thoughts into a remarkable poem! I wouldn't have been able to do that, it would have taken me ages. Hehe! I aplaud you for your outstanding work on this poem! Just a phenomenal write!

I had just logged off and caught this poem in the corner of my eye. (ouch) Yes, I think there are a number of people who ask why...Thank you for pointing them in the right direction! May God bless you, your family and your pen!

Wow, Ellis...a great write. Beautifully written. I think that "why" is one question all poets are constantly asking.
Look at this to know what I mean.

This poem came straight out of my heart......and so did yours. Let's keep questioning. We'll never understand.....or will we?
