What We Should've Known

the pavement sets every footstep we take
i stand there
arms stretched open to the sky
as the rain begins to fall
hitting my forehead and mouth
hanging on the swells of my lips
for precious seconds before slithering
elsewhere.
you stand beside me
and i sigh as i look at your face.
we've been through so much together
there was a time when i thought
you were as transparent as a window
but you were brilliant
and i could never be anything to your
clarity.
i was foggy.
and walking around with my hand to my head
always worrying about something
something had to be wrong.
and then you hug me
in the parkinglot in the rain
just like we were when i first
touched your mouth.
except better.
because this time we feel it.
this time
i really love you.

I think it's beautiful. The details put you in that emotional state of will it end wonderfully or tears. Great job KIM!
