A Breath Of Summer

Missing image

It may not be much, but it's sheer paradise to me
My own little corner where my mind can roam free.
It's my secret garden where everything grows
A playground for nature where harmony flows.
Francis of Assisi with out stretched arms to the sun
Beside the bird bath where waters trickle and run.

The song of the lark echoes clear through the trees
Dainty butterflies dance on a warm summer breeze.
The red roses bloom with a rich perfume divine
Sweet peas sway over fences, upwards they climb.
There's foxes, squirrels, the old hedgehog comes too
They bathe in the beauty beneath a canopy of blue.

The blossom floats down from the apple trees high
Then settles like confetti before blowing on by.
The honey bee hovers over a fresh blanket of green
While collecting sweet pollen to present to his queen.
And right at the bottom where the path falls away
A secret passage to paradise where the little folk play.

When I was reading this, it totally reminded me of The Secret Garden. I sincerely hope that this place is real, and from the way you described it, I'm convinced that it must be. I don't think anyone could imagine something this good. This poem really flows, and your rhymes are perfect. I looove the way you describe things, too. This is a really great write. Thanks for entering it in the contest!

Thank you very much for your lovely comments. Yes---it is real and my four foxes who live at the top of the garden come down in daylight now they are used to me, but I've fed them from cubs. Thank you once again .

    Thank You!

I needed a little tranquility. I had a little garden once with a bird bath & I still love to have my bird feeders. Just to sit still & watch nature. I love that. Thanks again for the memories.

I finally found it and I did rome through this very site how I missed it is beyond me,
BUT it was worth the hunt!
A truly delightful and musical work here
the beat of the reading was bouncy and airy
the feeling of this work was cool and the colors you painted with your words so vivid
colorful imagery was quick to mind and easy reading made
this poem even more enchanting because it brought forth an innocents where simplistically was truthful
This poem was like a cool dip in the pool!
    Masterfully done!
Great fortune with the contest this has to be a winner!

Your own little corner seems to be a beautiful refreshing place to be. I wish the roses would bloom in spring here where I live but we have to wait for early summer for their beauty. You have created an oasis of nature and of beauty with your words. And the rhyming is exquisitely done! Thank you very much for the entry and best wishes in the contest

    Beautiful

You are so descriptive I can almost hear the birds chirpping and bees buzzing. But I'm afraid if I breath in too deeply to smell the flowers I'll start sneezing. This is really beautiful. Like all of your work. It is always a pleasure to read your pennings.
