Cool, crisp taut sheets,
don't disturb the covers,
roll to the favorite pillow.
Sleep comes, dreams begin.
Black and white soon
turns technicolor.
The blue gold throne
was encrusted with
the alabaster remains of
creatures extinct, on terra firma.
A ghostly image, floated above,
so sad, even brokenhearted.
It pointed to each skeleton,
each remnant of a shell,
imprints of green plants embedded
in dried clay, amber casing insects.
From it's dark grey eyes,
tears of rainbows overflowed and fell.
The shadowy figure held it's hands
where a heart would be,
then widely gestured,
with both arms at the
expanse of calypso colors.
Wildlife grazing on brilliant grass,
chasing prey to nourish,
soaring birds, watching from above,
all creatures giving birth,most
travelling with heads held high.
The tears grew larger as it
glanced once more to the
throne and pointed to a place
I had not noticed. A littered
graveyard, lifeless creatures,
now extinct, lying where they'd died.
Creeping slowly, the scene
withdrew from color to
shadows of grey.
Alone remained the rainbow tears
left to remind me,
we have a world to save.
