Merry Christmas, My Friend

Missing image
Merry Christmas, My Friend

As the sun dips slowly to the edge of the earth
And the day slips quietly away
My thoughts turn to memories of  you, my friend
Of a wonderful time, a delightful day

Christmas is a time to give thanks and praise
A time to remind friends we still care
And as you look out on the new fallen snow
Please remember I'll always be there

I hope your Christmas brings peace and joy
And your wishes all come true
I wish you the best for the year ahead
Because, my friend, I love you

Author notes

This was originally written for my dear friend, Roland. There's a lot of personal feeling in this. I like it and thought it appropriate for the coming season.

You can definitely see the emotion with which this poem was written. The first 2 lines set the tone and the rest is a joy to read. The rhyming flows in a gentle way, complementing the words.

Dee this is just super... I lost a dear beloved friend this year and your poem bought him to mind. I will miss him this holiday season. But I know he is always with me... Hugs... Pat
