The Golden Butterfly (For Lauren)

Missing image
In the enchanted land of magical faeries and elves, there lived a beautiful faerie named Lauren. She was a princess among all the faeries and lived in the  petals of a lovely flower. She was a very special princess for she would help Santa Claus at Christmas time by sprinkling Faerie Dust about the bedrooms of all the little boys and girls so they would not see Santa when he arrived to put their presents under the Christmas tree. The Faerie Dust would fall upon the eyelids of all the boys and girls and keep their eyes closed until Christmas morning. She was kept very busy and her tiny wings would become very tired but she would not stop.
Santa loved his little faerie princess very much for she had helped him for many, many years and he thought it was time to reward Lauren for her loyal service.
One day Santa called Lauren aside and said to her, "My little faerie princess, you have been so good and helpful to me, I am going to ask the King of the Elves to grant you a special wish."
Lauren had never had a special wish before and was very excited.
"What would she wish for?" She wondered.
She remembered the year that it had snowed really bad. She had been late sprinkling the Faerie Dust and had seen the little boys and girls smiling and laughing excitedly as they opened  all their presents from under the Christmas tree.
"I know," She said to herself. "I will ask the King of the Elves to turn me into a little girl so that I may have wonderful presents to open on Christmas morning too."
She told Santa of her wish. Santa asked the King of the Elves if this would be possible. The King replied that it would but once Lauren was a little girl she could not return to being a Faerie Princess, she would lose her wings, and would remain a little girl forever.
Lauren agreed that it be so.
The King of the Elves told Lauren to watch for the Golden Butterfly who would visit her very soon and grant her wish, but she must remember to give her tiny wings to the Golden Butterfly.
  And so it came about.
Lauren the beautiful Faerie Princess, became Lauren the beautiful little girl who smiled and laughed excitedly as she opened her presents from under the Christmas tree on Christmas morning.

Author notes

This story was written especially for Silverael's little daughter, Lauren, (who is a beautiful little faerie), with much love this Christmas time.

Footnote: Little Lauren will be 2 years old on January 5th. (My Mother's Birthday), which is the day before my birthday.
Another two reasons why this lovely little girl means the world to me.

Oh Sammy! You have such a gentle soul! What little girl wouldn't love this bedtime story. You've made for her a Christmas Classic! Me, I have a fondness for faeries so for me this is just wonderful. I'm printing this out to give to my Katie, I just know she'll love it! I didn't know you were a Faerie Guardian! A position of honour I might add. The Faerie King couldn't have chosen a better person for the job! This was woven with such love and tenderness. It just jumps off the page right into your heart. Thank for sharing this story Sammy, I think it's one of your best! Have a wonderful Christmans and a very happy New Year!

Me! You see when ever a faerie princess has the desire to become mortal, a new one is chosen. It is a special gift that Santa gives, one to be cherished. It is an honor and gift that is passed to the next. One to be equally cherished. ****** ~;~ faerie dust I give to add sparkle to your holidays!

"Princess" should not be capitalized unless it's used as her name, such as, "the princess did this," as opposed to, "He loved Princess Lauren." See the difference? Also not, "many many years," but rather, "many, many years." You need a comma to break that up, otherwise it's harder to read, see? "She remembered the year . . . etc.," should be broken up into at least one more sentence. It's just too big at the moment. "I know," she said to herself, "I will ask the king . . . etc." Unless a pronoun comes at the beginning of a sentence you don't capitalize it. And be careful of your quotation marks! Don't forget to use them! "She would lose her wings," not "lose her wings." You didn't establish concretely enough that the wings were hers, see? "Who would then visit her very soon . . . etc." This just sounds better. Also, "grant her wish," not "grant her, her wish." The comma is a mistake, and you don't need to repeat the word, "her." "Lauren the beautiful Faerie princess became . . . etc." You don't need the extra comma there. Also, "on Christmas morning," not "an Christmas morning." You also need to indent your paragraphs. Other than that, this is cute, and I hope the real Lauren enjoys it! You deserve to hear that praise in my opinion!

My Sweet fp~;~ I waited anxiously for you to appear on this page and I have not been disappointed. Your words of encouragement have made me a very proud Faerie Guardian. Actually, I have a confession to make. 'Twas you who inspired me to write this story.
Thank you for blessing me with some faerie dust. I know it will make me very happy.

Aliana my dear, There is a magical faerie called Kerry.
I recall meeting her one mystical night a couple of years ago.
I remember vividly that she had beautiful green eyes.
She sprinkled faerie dust upon my soul and asked me to be the Faerie Guardian. And so it is that I watch over all the faeries, elves and goblins.
    Take every care now,

Liz (if I may) there is a book of which you may be interested to read to your Lauren. It is called "The Last Fairy" by F.E. Hancock, of which the opening poem is on my author's page. I know you will enjoy reading this to your little one as much as I have to mine. A book which began my love of faeries! Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. Our Faerie Guardian is a wonderful man with a very special gift. He knows with his heart and his soul the magic of which dreams are made of.
******** ~;~ a sprinkling of faerie dust for you and your's so your holidays will have a magical sparkle.

My Dear Liz, it warms my heart also to know that you had a chance to read this before Christmas Day. I feel sad at times knowing that I am so far away and cannot give Lauren the love I dearly wish to. All I can give her are my words, and if I can bring to her (and her Mum) any small joy, then my writing has not been in vain.
Bless you both. I hope you both have a wonderful Christmas and know that I shall be thinking of you both on Christmas Day.
    Lots a love,
    Sammy

    Wonderful Story

This is truly beautiful and is the thing fairie tales and magic are made of, Lauren would be in awe listening to this, as for us adults, it shows the tenderness and insight into that beautiful heart of yours, you have a wonderful gift Sammy and we are all so fortunate to be able to share in the magic you are able to weave with your golden pen. You write such wonderful, interesting, magical stories, but then, you are one very talented man

Oh! How precious! I am going to buy some special paper for this and print it out and frame it! Then I'll make another copy for the folder I have put together with all of our poems to her in it. Sammy, you've touched my heart and put a smile in it tonight; I know it will do the same for Lauren when she is old enough to understand the words. For now, she loves the color purple and seems to like the picture. *huggles* from both of us! -- Liz and Lauren

    Fairy beautiful

Such a lovely story. Very empowering for a little girl to read. You tied in a lesson about choices - turning from fairy to girl - seamlessly. Lauren is clearly a strong and beautiful fairy girl and you are congratulated for writing a piece which demonstrates this to her.
