Seasons Greetings

'Twas the week before Christmas and behind every door
A sack full of cards lay covering the floor.
Mostly from folks no-one sees any more.

Scarcely a card without a scene of clean snow.
Or Rudolph the reindeer with nose all aglow
Or couples kissing 'neath a sprig of mistletoe.

Big cards, little cards. Oblong and square,
Cards of all shapes and colours lay there
Depicting sagging tables full of festive fare.

But one card is missing and that one is from me.
I don't waste money in the face of child misery,
Every penny I save goes straight to the B.C.C.

Author notes

Seasonal Greetings to everyone out there.
I don't believe in making Hallmark or the post office rich so I send Christmas greetings this way and donate all the savings.
Please feel free to copy the idea!!!

Once again I must thank you for your kind words and applause.
I cannot claim the idea is original but I have been boosting BCC funds for a few years now with my system. Email makes it even better. The only problem is a new card rhyme each year. LOL

    excellent

This was delightful,I-Like-Rhymes. My father recycles greeting cards and shares a similar wise frugality. 3 or 4 bucks for a card is rather outrageous, I agree. Anyway, your poem was a real pleasure to read.

Firstly, it's nice to see another Brit here.
Secondly, what a lovely poem and what a lovely thing to do. This poem really captured my heart in a way that no poem ever has before so hats off to you for that.

Thanks for reading and writing Arzab. You were quick off the mark.
I have done this for a few year but this year I am also going to give something for every comment here too. So you have helped some kid in Bradford. Thanks.

I think that's a wonderful thing to do this time of the year. Especially charities who help children who are unfortunate and who need the help. I think it's great to give something like that during the holiday season. As far as the poem goes, good write. It has a good flow and has a strong message to help others and to give during the holiday season. Good write.
