Oh ! What a beautiful day it is!

Sun is shining bright and warm
Perfect sky is so bright blue
Lazy white puffy clouds
Soft winds are whispering through

As I looked out at my children
Running in circles for what seems miles
I could hear their cheer and laughter
I was sharing in their smiles

So I sat down on my front porch
Gazed upon my fertile grounds
I noticed that my roses
Many buds were all abound

Leaves were wrapped up tight
Closed off from winter's cold
All afraid to spring open
What? One rose being bold?

One is trying to open!
How beautiful and pink
My first sweet scent of roses
Since fall I do think

It stood there all alone
Blooming proud as it could be
Determined to shake loose
Last winter's rain and freeze

It struck me that quick moment
All lives do bare the same
How that single sweet brave rose
Took on life as it came!

Oh.... what a beautiful day it is!

Another lovely poem. That first rose of the season is always the prettiest and the most fragrant. I'm already getting the Spring garden catalogs in the mail. Winter hasn't even started yet. Stay warm ~ Sue

    Breath taking

Oh... how clearly stated! I feel that this reminds me that the flower has a the petal part and the thorns. Your poem has great symbolism to it. It's beauitful... just beautiful. Everytime I feel the thorn, I'll have to read your poem, everything intime blooms. I enjoyed this poem very much. May I add, you have great scensory and conveyed great emotion in stanza two.
