The Comfort of Letting Go

I have found that when I cling to past hurts, I justify my own retaliation.  I not only retaliate toward those who hurt me, I create new reasons to retaliate with my own behavior grounded in fear.

Retaliation is a direct contradiction to the female creative spirit.  It leaves me at odds with myself in a pool of negative behaviors perpetuating the cycle of pain.  It numbs my aching heart for a moment in the satisfaction of --get even--, but it likewise hampers my ability to live wisely.  It robs me of joy.

It is a scary road letting go.  It is not always what friends and family encourage us to do so sometimes it is a lonely road.

Today I cling to the concept that we are all children of the same Creator.  If you get some satisfaction from throwing the sand out of my sandbox, I will simply ask the Creator to give you a box to hold it so that someday, your heart will be satisfied and full.  He will provide me with all the sand I need.

    Super!!

You make an excellent point on letting go. It is very hard not to be vindictive as you well know. Yes, it does rob you of joy as you stated. There is too much to do in life without worrying about the things you cannot change. The Comfort of Letting Go is written with a great deal of thought.

Woo this is a heavy piece, very thought provoking, society today doesn't really allow for us letting go of anything, we are all supposed to be so 'together' which just results in us all being walking disaster areas. This place vouches for that..
