Celebrate the reason of the Christmas season,
it's been around for over two thousand years,
by now the reason of celebration should be clear.
Forget bombardment of saturated T.V. and press,
demanding what gift if you love them is the very best.
Practice the real gift giving that you know is true,
teach your children to practice and comprehend this too.
Give of your self in useful ways of service from the heart,
not some pricey item you saw that speaks and glows in the dark.
Give of your self things that matter to loved ones the most,
bought material positions are not a gift of the heavenly host.
Make design construct thing wanted homemade,
just like they did in the past real of a bygone day.
And remember if it was made by a loved one you treasure,
it's the kind of gift you'll cherish now and forever.
We simply must return to the values that make it real,
make it a meaningful Christmas and try to instill,
the turning of the greed driven commercial tide,
return to the reason the season has managed to survive.

Amen... It took me along time to figure out why I was getting depressed every holiday season. I decided it was because Christmas had become a burden rather than a joyess time for celebration.

A BEAUTIFULLY EXPRESSED POEM OF THE HEART AND
You are not the only one, I try to give a gift not bought in a store but one that comes from me and my heart. I am into photography a little and I try to make my Christmas cards from my pictures and my own words. I love to matte and frame my pictures and send them as gifts with special words written from my heart with them. If they are my friends here at home I try to do whatever I can for them at this time of year and everyday. -
Carrol, service is so important. when we make things, bits of our soul get caught up in it. It becomes a soul gift...the gift I sent to you is far more of worth than any one that could be bought. although I am not Christian, I recognize Jesus as a great teacher who attepted to lead many to higher spirituality through service. this is the core of it...the rest is glitz, even the ones who think they celebrate for the right reasons, forget that words were translated to fit poticics of the day. if you give of you soul...not jsut at chritmas time, then, you indeed, have given what is dearest. Being in a garage no mroe makes me a car than sitting ina church makes me a christian. It was proof int he christmas pudding...all year round... Smiles. I lvoe ya gf.

Here's my point of view. Christmas is about the birth of Christ. Simple! That's it and if you don't believe in Christ, then make your own damn holiday and then say "Happy Holidays" to the others who don't believe in Christ and leave Christmas alone.
Suseann, you know I'm directing this to you because I know how you feel, just my own little rant that happened to be inspired by and fall onto your lovely poem here. To you I say, "way to go woman, you tell'um"
Thank you, it's about time someone said something....and Christmas isn't about giving material things, it's about celebrating the birth of Christ and giving of yourself as He did.
To you I will say "Merry Christmas"...something I've refused to say to anyone this year except a select few. Love you lady!
