Do Not Weep For Me

Please do not weep, I
have not gone
I'm here with you, I've
been all along
So please don't think of
me and grieve,
I am still here, I
did not leave
The shadow you see,
upon your wall
Tis me looking over, cause
I heard your call
I didn't leave you, it
isn't as it seems
I will always be there,
inside your dreams
So please don't think of
me and weep
I am there watching
as you sleep
Don't assume I'm
just a memory
Because I live on, when you
speak of me
So please don't think of
me and grieve
I'm still with you, if
you believe!

Such an emotional subject, so well written, but not to me it seems in a out and out emotional way. Quite upbeat and cheery for those left behind to remember.
    I love this,

I am so glad that you liked this, if you could be so kind as to send me the links to your poems, it would be appreciated. I've had a few sent to me, but because I had IM's going nuts at times, I would forget the title before I got to the home page. I really want to read them, it's just easier with a link.

    Heart touching

A truly touching poem! Full of emotion that flows so smoothly and gently over the eyes and ears, connects well with so many people, myself included. We can all related to feelings of lost, and that despair that you will never, ever see them again, but yet, they have never left. They are still here, with us. Keeping us safe. And it's the most comforting thought. To put that feeling into words isn't always easy, so kudos on constructing a moving and very beautiful poem. I'm sure it brought tears to so many eyes, again, mine included. You should feel proud of what you have accomplished here. An applause, well deserved, goes to you, m'dear.

Breathtaking and made me think of my mother. Oh how I miss her. she died 7 years ago. I really took your touching and beautiful words to heart and realize that she is looking over me as I write this. Lovely poem, I loved everything about it. You also did a nice job with your attention to detail...like meter, which many poets seem to forget about.

it's not theft at all Spam...it anything it was a translation and extension of that beautiful poem. I'll always remember that poem having been read at my father's funeral, but I will now also remember your poem. I know so much of your own pain and sadness went into writing this...but if only you sense the peace and resolution that your poem has brought to others.

    Beautiful/Touching

I cannot even begin to tell you how touched I am by this piece. This really goes straight to my heart because I am going through losing my 2 1/2 year old daughter from Congestive Heart Failure on October 4, 2005. Everything you wrote are the things I know and feel, but it is so hard to believe them. I try very hard to believe and it's people like you who continue to give me hope. Thanks for such a beautiful write. I love it!

this poem brought to mind so much the poem which Bookdragon had noted in his comments above which we said at my own father's funeral. I know the writing of this poem was difficult for you and hope that you do see this passing as you have translated it in this poem. so very poignant and sad a poem, yet there feels to be such a sense of peace too.

excellent writing Spamwich and I'm truly glad I had the chance to read this.

I applaud because it is such a poignant poem. Plus, it's good!
But I've had the rather unique experience of being in the room with three of my loved ones as they've passed on, and each one was quite different, as were the people themselves. Which I bring up because during each, while everyone else in the room was watching the body, I was looking up, trying to see their essence leaving, knowing that it continues on.
    My condolences for your mother.

    BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Oh, Shawn...what a beauty. Of course, you know how I feel about death. I believe that the dead are so close to us we can reach out and touch them. That we do, more or less, journey through this 'life cycle' together and wait for each other and make many journeys together. This is WHY I believe in soul mates, deep spiritual friendships; ties that bind. Those people you feel you immediately connect to? I believe there is a reason why. I think it is because you already know them. You just don't realize it. But those are my beliefs; from my own experiences and recollections.

I do believe in 'those shadows on the walls', so this poem is very beautiful to me. I lived the dreams for 23 years, so I can't debate that one. This is absolutely stunning! Thank you so much for sharing this with me tonight

    Many blessings and s

I am sorry for your loss. I lost my mother 16 years ago and it still hurts at time knowing she is not here.(for my tribute poem to her see allpoetry.com/Poem/1597833 ) I was wondering if the following is the poem that was read at your mothers funeral? I clicked on your poem because it's title made me think of this poem by Mary Frye

    Do Not Cry For Me

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.

I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush.
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am in the starshine of the night.

I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I do not die.
